Review:
A fanciful, irreverent pseudo-memoir. KV was definitely the friend no one could ever tell whether he was being serious or not. More likely than not, he wasn’t. Nothing is sacred, no social convention is above being picked up by the ankles and shaken vigorously for a moment until all manner of previously pocketed coins and paperwork have reorganized themselves flatly on the ground.
This was definitely a “who cares, I’m dying soon anyway” novel and he says as much in the prologue. Very loose, very meandering. Still worth a read for Vonnegut fans but not his most special work.
